Kitchen remodelling and renovation in Queensland

A full renovation replaces the layout, cabinetry, benchtops and services in one coordinated project. We plan it, quote it line by line and manage every trade until you are cooking again.

What does a full kitchen renovation include?

A full kitchen renovation with Restart Kitchens covers design, demolition and removal of the old kitchen, any plumbing, electrical and gas changes, new custom cabinetry, benchtops, splashback, appliance installation, lighting and a final clean. Prices start from $24,995 and most projects take two to six weeks on site.

Everything handled, in the right order

Most renovation stress comes from trades turning up in the wrong order. Your project manager sequences the job so each stage is ready for the next one.

  • Design and floor plan including layout changes, island sizing and walkway clearances
  • Strip-out and disposal of the old kitchen, with protection for floors and adjoining rooms
  • Plumbing, electrical and gas relocations by licensed Queensland tradespeople
  • Wall, ceiling and floor patching or new flooring where the old cabinetry footprint shows
  • Cabinetry, benchtops and splashback made to measure and installed by our team
  • Lighting including downlights, pendants and LED strip under wall cabinets

Renovating in Queensland: what to know first

Local conditions shape every decision we make, from materials to ventilation.

QBCC licensing

In Queensland, building work valued over $3,300 must be carried out by a QBCC licensed contractor, and residential work above that value is covered by the QBCC Home Warranty Scheme. Ask any kitchen company for their licence number before you sign.

Humidity and wet zones

Sink and dishwasher runs get moisture-resistant board and sealed edges, because swollen particleboard is the most common failure we see in older Queensland kitchens.

Heat and light

West-facing kitchens take a beating in summer. We plan glazing, window furnishings and finishes that will not fade or warp in afternoon sun.

Highset and older homes

Timber-framed Queenslanders can have uneven floors and walls. We scribe and level cabinetry to the house, not to a perfect drawing.

Questions about kitchen renovations

How much does a kitchen renovation cost in Brisbane?

Restart Kitchens renovations start from $24,995. A refresh that keeps your layout sits at the lower end, while a full remodel with moved plumbing, a new island, premium benchtops and new appliances costs more. You receive an itemised written quote after a free measure.

Can I live at home during the renovation?

Yes, most clients stay at home. We isolate the work area, keep a clear path through the house and can help you set up a temporary kitchen with a sink, microwave and fridge while the new kitchen goes in.

How long will I be without a kitchen?

Typically two to six weeks on site, depending on the scope. Cabinetry is made before demolition starts so the gap between the old kitchen coming out and the new one going in is as short as possible.

Do I need council approval to renovate a kitchen in Queensland?

A like-for-like kitchen renovation usually does not need a building approval, but removing a load-bearing wall, changing the structure or working on a heritage-listed or character-protected home can. We check this during design and tell you if an approval or engineer is required.

Can you work with my builder or architect?

Yes. We regularly work from architectural plans and can coordinate with your builder on extension or whole-of-home projects.
