Kitchen appliance installation and upgrades

New appliances only perform when they are fitted properly. We plan the cabinetry around each model, then have licensed electricians, plumbers and gasfitters connect them.

Who can install kitchen appliances in Queensland?

In Queensland, hard-wired electrical appliances such as ovens and cooktops must be connected by a licensed electrician, gas appliances by a licensed gasfitter, and dishwashers or plumbed fridges by a licensed plumber. Restart Kitchens coordinates all three so your appliances are installed to the manufacturer's specifications and compliant.

Appliances we install and integrate

Whether you are upgrading one appliance or fitting out a new kitchen, we check cut-out sizes, ventilation and power before anything is ordered.

  • Wall ovens and steam ovens in tower or under-bench housings
  • Induction, gas and ceramic cooktops including conversions between fuel types
  • Rangehoods ducted to the outside where possible, including integrated and ceiling units
  • Dishwashers freestanding, under-bench or fully integrated with a matching door
  • Fridges and freezers including plumbed ice makers and integrated column units
  • Microwaves, warming drawers and coffee machines built into cabinetry

Gas or induction cooktop?

This is the upgrade question we hear most. Both work well. Here is how they compare so you can decide before the cabinetry is designed.

InductionGas
SpeedVery fast to heat and very precise at low temperaturesInstant visible flame, quick response
CleaningFlat glass surface wipes clean in secondsTrivets and burners need regular cleaning
CookwareNeeds magnetic pans such as cast iron or most stainlessWorks with any cookware, including woks
InstallationUsually needs a dedicated electrical circuit, which may require switchboard workNeeds a gas supply and compliant clearances to surfaces and the rangehood
Kitchen heatLess waste heat, which helps in Queensland summersAdds heat and combustion by-products, so good extraction matters

Getting appliance upgrades right

Local conditions shape every decision we make, from materials to ventilation.

Check the switchboard

Induction cooktops and multiple ovens can exceed an older switchboard's capacity. Our electrician checks it before you buy.

Duct the rangehood

A rangehood ducted outside removes heat, steam and grease far better than a recirculating one, which matters in humid weather.

Water connections

Dishwashers and plumbed fridges get the correct isolation valves and flood-safe hoses.

Exact cut-outs

Every model has its own cut-out and ventilation specs. We design around the actual model number, not a generic size.

Questions about appliance installation

Need a specific answer for your home? Call 1300 816 633.

Can you install appliances I have already bought?

Yes. Send us the model numbers and we will confirm the cut-outs, power and gas requirements, then plan the cabinetry or modifications needed to fit them.

Can I switch from a gas to an induction cooktop?

Yes. The gas line is capped by a licensed gasfitter and an electrician runs a dedicated circuit for the induction cooktop. In older homes the switchboard may need an upgrade first.

Do you install integrated fridges and dishwashers?

Yes. Integrated appliances sit behind cabinetry doors for a seamless look. They need precise housing sizes and ventilation, which we build into the cabinetry design.

How long does an appliance upgrade take?

A straight swap of a like-for-like oven, cooktop or dishwasher is usually done in a day. Changing sizes, fuel types or adding integrated appliances may need cabinetry changes and takes longer.

Will installing appliances void the warranty?

Manufacturers usually require installation by licensed trades to their specifications. Using licensed electricians, plumbers and gasfitters helps keep your warranty valid.
